MARTA TO HOST VIRTUAL MEETINGS ON H.E. HOLMES STATION MASTER PLAN

ATLANTA – The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) will host two virtual meetings to provide updates and seek input on the H.E. Holmes Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Master Plan on Monday, Feb. 6 from 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. and Tuesday, Feb. 7 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The master plan will address the 22 acres of land surrounding H.E. Holmes rail station. The station location has the potential to leverage transit in a way that reconciles a diverse mix of land uses to create new neighborhood centers. The planning approach has been designed to be comprehensive, community-focused, and aligned with the values set forth in both MARTA’s TOD Guidelines and the City of Atlanta's TOD Strategy.

In addition to being a regional transportation hub, the H.E. Holmes Station holds significance as a place with deep ties to Atlanta's rich history - and its heroes of the Civil Rights Movement. The station is named for Dr. Hamilton Earl Holmes, an Atlantan celebrated for desegregating the University of Georgia along with Charlayne Hunter-Gault.

Meeting participants will learn more about the possibilities for the site and have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback after a brief presentation. This is part of the exploration stage of the project where the design team is studying different scenarios to plan the site in a way that reflects the community’s ideas.

The same information will be presented and discussed at each session.
