MARTA ARTBOUND UNVEILS PUBLIC ART PROJECT AT FIVE POINTS STATION

ATLANTA – The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) public art program Artbound recently unveiled a project at Five Points Station in downtown Atlanta. Artbound selected four local artists to paint 18 traffic barriers located outside the rail station on Peachtree St., Broad St. Plaza, and Forsyth St. SW.

“These barriers, while functional and necessary to divert traffic, have not always been the most attractive,” said Artbound Director Katherine Dirga. “This project beautifies MARTA’s largest and busiest rail station and highlights talented local artists.”

The artists are Jenevieve Reid (Peachtree side), Manty Dey (Broad St. side), and Krista Jones and Angie Jerez (Forsyth side). All were selected by Dirga and her team for their imaginative and inspiring artwork. Learn more about the featured artists and see their work at Five Points on Instagram @marta_artbound.

One percent of MARTA’s annual budget is allocated to enhance the ridership experience through visual and performance art. MARTA Artbound provides opportunities for artists year-round with a range of projects encompassing many modes of art. To learn more visit https://itsmarta.com/artbound.aspx
