MARTA Board Member Gloria Leonard has been elected to serve as Chair of the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) 2010 Transit Board Members Committee. As Chair, Ms. Leonard will lead the committee in developing and implementing professional development opportunities, educational resources and peer exchanges for transit board members. She will also be responsible for overseeing APTA’s Annual Transit Board Members Seminar – an educational event focused on strengthening leadership skills. The Committee meets three times a year during APTA’s Annual Transit Board Members Seminar, Legislative Conference and Annual Meeting.

Tyler. “Ms. Leonard is a dedicated board member and transit advocate, and we know that she will bring that same level of commitment to serving our fellow board members throughout the country.”
Ms. Leonard also serves on APTA’s American Public Transit Foundation Board, is Co-Chair of the Operations Legislative Subcommittee, and a panelist on the National Academy of Science Transportation Research Board. She previously served as Vice Chair of the Transit Board Members Committee from 2008 to 2009 and as Secretary of the Committee from 2006 to 2007.
Ms. Leonard has represented the City of Atlanta on the MARTA Board since January 2003. She currently serves as Chair of the Audit Committee, Vice Chair of the Customer Development Committee, and a board representative on the Ethics Committee.
